Yesterday I had an awesome Skype visit with St. Thomas Episcopal School in Texas. I spoke to 8th-12th grade Latin students about the ancient world and about writing Cleopatra’s Moon.
I LOVED the experience and hope to have more with other schools!
The awesome Ginger Emshoff, Latin teacher and school JCL sponsor, sent me this photo of the event, which is pretty cool.
However, every time I look at it, I half-expect an athletic, short-haired blond woman to race toward the screen and heroically hurl a giant hammer at my face on the screen, a la the iconic “1984” Apple ad. If you’re too young to know what I’m talking about, check it out:
(But I was on a Mac, I swear!)
Anyway, if you’d like for me to chat with your students via Skype, email me!

How very cool! And yup – know the ad. But you’re no evil dictator! 🙂

I think Skype is the BEST THING EVER. I can wear my flipflops and no one cares! Congrats on your successful visit… and may you enjoy many more.

Thanks, e! Irene, I know! I was in fluffy socks!

That is so cool Vicky! I hope that you are able to do more Skype visits.

Next time you have one, see if the co-ordinator will take the SLEDGEHAMMER PICTURE with a track team member. TOO FUNNY! I had the same exact thought when I saw that pic!

Glad to see a school using tech to help enrich the students’ experiences. Well done Vicky!!
At least they didnt ask you to wear that awesome dress 😉
